Sinking Treasures - The Golden Mermaid Treasure Hunt
The plan is to sink a golden mermaid, worth several thousand pounds, somewhere in British waters and have clues to its location hidden within the pages of a non-fiction book called 'Sinking Treasures', charting the progress of the SinkOne4Sussex scuttling project, for publication as soon as the artifical reef is in place.

'Sinking Treasures' will describe the process required to:

Secure the permissions needed to scuttle a warship, the acquisition of the warship itself, how all the toxins (lead, oils, chemicals, etc) were removed from the ship and how the minimal amount of explosive was used to scuttle her (these last two subjects are designed to make the project as environmentally friendly as possible).

It is also planned that the book will include a detailed dive guide to assist divers visiting the site, along with flora and fauna information concerning the scuttling location, with photographs of plants and animals that are expected to inhabit the artificial reef once she is in place.

Although the treasure itself will be underwater, the treasure hunt will be open to everyone; divers and non-divers alike. The treasure hunter who sends in the first correct and valid solution, will be contacted by the author, who will meet them on dry land near the treasure's location. The author will then recover the treasure for or with the treasure hunter.
